Flyer for show at The Holding Cell, 11/24 |
Friday
Sub-Sahara/VVOES (Dreamy Life Records)
Of course, everyone is excited about the Uranium Club show coming up in December here, but Dreamy Life still hosts a show every Friday at the Fairmount Library, which also doubles as a happy hour. They get weekly donations from Rahr and Sons Brewing, and beer is served free there, usually a with a 3 beer limit and provided you have ID, of course. We heard there will be a special Black Friday 10% off of everything sale tonight. This will also be a record release for Sub-Sahara.
Junkie/Blands/Teenage Sexx/King Country (The Holding Cell)
It's to our understanding that this show will be at a house in Denton, and that's usually all that needs to be said. Especially at a time when house venues are extremely hard to come by, this show definitely caught our attention. Blands, from Dallas, brings a refreshing take on your usual garage-rock, with grungy vocals that don't hide behind a lot of distortion and effects. Teenage Sexx continues to stay busy with a performance tonight, bringing their usual pop garage-rock sound, and Junkie makes a visit from San Antonio.

Sunday
Unsane/Plaque Marks/Speedealer (Ridglea Theatre)

It seems as if the old Ridglea Theatre, which seemed to be in an indefinite hiatus, is now trying to make a comeback. They are keeping the same style of booking bigger independent acts, such as the underground favorite, Unsane. Keep an eye out for more shows here.
